Lowdown

A McNally faux bistro original. Scenetastic breakfast starts many a Soho player's day, while Silicon Alley types split café-style lunches. Dinner pulls in the power suits for duck and pistachio terrine, steak au poivre, duck confit. Open late to salve any bouts of insatiable frite-craving. Distressed fittings feel legitimately like the banks of the Seine. Half-heartedly stalk Winona Ryder while hitting the chocolate bread from Balthazar Bakery next door.

Bravolebrity Recommendation

Balthazar is the best French bistro in the city. Amazing hanger steak and fries.
- Ash Fulk, Top Chef
Absolutely amazing. I would rate it six stars for the service and the food. Order the appetizer Tete de Veau and a goat cheese tarte for your entrée. I liked the pork belly the most. It was my favorite restaurant in New York.
- Mattin Noblia, Top Chef
The bar at this fantastic Keith McNally restaurant is a great place to hang out and have a club soda (I don't drink) and a nibble.
- Patrick McDonald , Launch My Line
The best french restaurant in Soho. Always a must when in New York.
- Akiko Cook, Launch My Line
Best steak frites I've had in my life.
- Timothy Dean, Top Chef
The more packed and crammed, the more I like it. Very attentive nad helpful staff. Always a pleasurable experience.

Balthazar gives you a delicate taste of Paris. The food is incredible (try the seafood platters for sharing). It's such a quaint place to stop by with a friend for a cup of Earl Grey tea and Brioche before returning to SoHo for shopping!
